Center For Career Development

Office & Retail skills training

Instructors and program managers provide individualized services to improve skills and assist in obtaining employment that matches the individual’s skills, interests and work needs.

Training is provided in:
Windows XP, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, E-mail & Internet, Keyboarding, Ten-Key, Customer Service, Basic Math

Extended Employment

Referred to as “manufacturing’s best kept secret”, Goodwill’s Extended Employment workshops provide a supportive setting for individuals to enhance their skill levels, while providing high quality service at affordable costs to customers. Many companies utilize our manpower to reduce costs, solve short-term production problems and satisfy customer requests. The companies benefit from quality work and attractive pricing, while the employees benefit from hands-on experience and skills training while earning income.

Industrial Services

Samples of services offered include: Packaging, Assembly, Collating, Hand Sealing, Poly-bagging, Kit assembly, Hand/ weight count, Labeling, Sorting, Production packaging design

Automatic packaging and semi-automatic shrink wrap with the largest heat tunnel in the area. Related services include short term storage, inventory control and pick-up/ delivery as needed.

Job Hunters Program

In conjunction with the Neighborhood and Community Services, Department of Kansas City, MO and HUD, we want to help you or someone you know get back on their feet.   We can help you:

  • Polish your image
  • Create a resume
  • Build your job-hunting confidence
  • Find job leads with real possibilities
  • Get to interviews

The Job Center includes such features as:

  • Phone bank and voice mail
  • Hundreds of job leads
  • Access to computer, copier & fax
  • Job search workshops
  • Emergency referral services
  • Street guides / maps
  • Advice and encouragement
  • Bus passes

Annually ,700-900 individuals will obtain employment through the Job Hunters program offered by Goodwill of Western Missouri & Eastern Kansas.  A participant usually visits the Job Center 12-15 times before a job is obtained.
