Why Goodwill?
It is an honor to represent the employees of Goodwill and be a part of building and maintaining a company culture that means so much to the communities we support. The mission, sustainability, power of work and community of MoKan Goodwill all represent values that are important to me. I’m excited to be part of an organization where every day the impact of what we do makes a significant contribution in the KCMO region and the communities we serve.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A math teacher and a writer, with aspirations to write a novel.
My goal was to use real life to inspire people.
What do you want to be now that you are grown up?
I’m not sure we ever fully grow up, there are so many opportunities to keep learning!
My career path has always been focused on developing effective workforce strategies and optimization and led me right where I am supposed to be. I’m hopeful that through my leadership and experience that I’ve still been able to inspire people to strive to do and be their best, and to appreciate and maximize their skills and opportunities.
What does it mean to you to be employed?
Empowerment and opportunity.
While the types of work change over time the impact of work remains the same. Once you learn the value of work and self-sufficiency you are started on a path of opportunity to become a productive, contributing member of your community.
And while at work, employees deserve a positive employee experience. At MoKan Goodwill we provide work that starts with respect and opportunity, including the training and support for important skills like customer service, operational goals, continuous improvement and teamwork. Skills that all employees can use to build upon on their career path either with us or elsewhere.
Anything else about you we should know?
I’ve been lucky enough to raise my two daughters often with a full house of other kids along the way. We’ve talked a lot about first jobs, education and budgeting, and how learning a strong sense of responsibility and accountability can help you reach your goals. I can’t wait to see the paths they all choose! And in the meantime, we enjoy finding time to be outdoors or traveling whenever we can, with our mini-Husky dog Jupiter.
